"society and policy can be pivotal in deciding the success and doom of an innovation"

Thoughts. Opinions. Research.

Internet was not meant to be what it is today. Developed as a communications medium, it has gone far and beyond what it was conceived to do. The disruptive nature of the technology, complimented by its emerging components, is evident in the form it is used today, and how it would be used tomorrow. Despite the reality and perceptions, there has been a gap between Technology and Society, which also extends into the Policy space.

Presented here are journalistic views and notions on the benefits, and harm of technology, in the form of whitepapers, case studies, and research reports. The work aims to address the interplay between key social, political, economic, and technological elements that impact innovation. This area of research is important for furthering any technology because of the inherent nature of its adaptation today – cross-border and disruptive.

PepperThought’s primary technology focus is in the area of Security in a networked world, with emphasis on privacy, identity managment, RFID, micropayments, and other complimentary emerging technologies.

RFID and Privacy [PDF]

The intent of this brief is to highlight the privacy issues that may affect the potential consumers of RFID-tagged items. It also attempts to highlight how
policies can enable positive adoption of RFID. The intent is clearly not to discourage consumers, but only to bring awareness to aid a more conscious
adoption by the society.
